Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services Delivers Toys for Tots Donations as a Tradition

It is that time of year again when Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services assists the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Program in their annual toy drive.
As a treasured holiday tradition for 20 consecutive years, Interstate’s owners and founders, the Morrissette family, and their employees volunteer to take toys to hundreds of children living in the Barry Farm’s community in Southeast Washington, D.C. The community holds a special place in the hearts of the Morrissette family. The company was founded just blocks from Barry Farms and was the site of its headquarters until 1971, and three generations of the Morrissette’s were born and/or raised nearby.
Over the past month, the Interstate team has been working directly with the Barry Farms Resident Council, gathering the ages and genders of children from participating families in the community to ensure age appropriate toys are gifted. Donations were accepted at Interstate’s headquarters in Springfield, VA, alongside designated Toys for Tots locations throughout the greater D.C. area. This week Interstate employees have been busy sorting the toys by family, and will load the toys onto Interstate trucks for delivery to the children on Christmas Eve.
Interstate employees and the Morrissette family will volunteer alongside the Washington, D.C. police and fire departments and the Marine Corps to deliver two trucks full of toys. A special Santa and his elves will accompany the group. “We never grow tired of seeing the grateful and excited faces that greet us when we deliver the toys on Christmas Eve,” comments Bud Morrissette, President.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Foundation was founded in 1947, shortly after Interstate’s own founding, and is dedicated to helping families in need during the holiday season. Despite the difficult economic conditions, the foundation has continued to remain dedicated to this cause.

Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services Welcomes Jeff Shellberg and
Patrick Marble to their Leadership Team.

Springfield, VA- June 27, 2011, Interstate Worldwide is pleased to announce that Jeff Shellberg and Patrick Marble have joined the Interstate leadership team. Effective June 2011, Jeff will assume the role of Vice President of General Manager Terminal Services and Patrick will serve as Vice President of Logistics Services.

Jeff most recently held the positions of Regional Vice President, General Manager of Denver and Colorado Springs as well as Vice President of Operations for Graebel Companies. In his role as a Regional Vice President and General Manger, Jeff was responsible for sales growth and operational excellence. In his role as Vice President of Operations for Graebel’s 42 service centers, he led Graebel’s fleet retention and recruiting efforts as well as ensuring that all branches performed to Graebel’s standards.

Prior to joining Interstate, Patrick held the position of Vice President of International for Daryl Flood, Inc. in Dallas. Patrick has held roles with increasing responsibility for SIRVA where he held the position of Director of International Procurement. He has worked within the International Moving Services Industry since 2000.

Jeff and Patrick will both hold pivotal roles within the company as they work to implement current initiatives and contribute to the future direction and growth of Interstate. Interstate welcomes Jeff and Patrick to the Interstate team and the Washington D.C. area.

Mr. Morrissette Goes to Washington!

On Tuesday, June 13, 2011, J D Morrissette, testified before a House subcommittee hearing titled “Do Not Enter: How Proposed Hours of Service Trucking Rules are a Dead End for Small Businesses.”

Morrissette is President of Interstate Van Lines, a mid-sized household goods carrier and military approved transportation service provider based in Springfield, Virginia. JD has more than 20 years of experience in the specialized transportation industry. His testimony was shared on behalf of the American Moving and Storage Association and their 3200+ members.

Happy 80th Birthday, Ron!

Ron Gallier, VP of Quality Control for Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services, celebrated his 80^th birthday today. In celebration, the company threw him a surprise birthday party complete with cake and a giant card in the community room. After being caught off guard, Ron smiled and asked ‘We’re not here to talk about uniforms are we?’

Happy Birthday, Ron!

Ron serves on the executive staff overseeing quality and training for the entire company. He develops and implements policies and procedures ranging from human resources initiatives to operational processes. He developed and documented the company’s quality management system that is registered by BSI to ISO 9001:2008.
